I know it’s been a while since I have posted anything here, but I decided to start writing again because my wife has been on a bit of a fitness kick lately. She’s always been beautiful to me, of course, but being here in the West is a little different. She told me that even though she was not overweight she was feeling lethargic and just didn’t have much energy.
This meant it was time to look into some different fitness programs for her. I’ve always loved going to the gym, but I don’t really know anything about training women. I know that women can do many of the same exercises men can, but I really didn’t know what to tell her in terms of program design, etc.
We thought about hiring a personal trainer for her, but those don’t come cheap. I don’t mind spending money on her, but I was wondering if there was a more cost-effective way of teaching her to train.
My wife is very studious, so I had a feeling she could follow one of those internet programs. I wasn’t really sure which way to go. I looked into a program by Kayla Itsines, but it, too, seemed a little bit pricey to me. We decided to keep looking around to see what else was out there.
That’s when I found this complete review of Jen Ferruggia’s Bikini Body Workouts. I wasn’t 100% sure at first, but some of the before and after pictures made me think it could be really effective. This photo in particular impressed me:
The “before” picture kind of reminded me of my wife: not fat at all (weight loss was not really the goal). But someone who wanted to “tone up” a bit.
I have to say we were really pleased with this program. My wife studied over every aspect of the program carefully: she looked at both the diet and exercise components. The workouts sessions could be done with the equipment that we already have at the gym where we are members.
So she went at it with all-out intensity. She was training regularly and watching her diet. She wasn’t having to starve herself, but she was eating a little more lean protein and a little less junk food. She was really sore for the first couple of weeks because it took her body some time to get used to the training. But she adapted, and in no time she was feeling like a new woman.
Want to know what else happened? I started getting in better shape. I was making better food choices and I was going to the gym with her. There was no excuse for me not to train when I saw how dedicated she was! I have lost a few pounds and I look and feel much younger (I have to be able to keep up with my young wife).
Her transformation took about three or four months. Since then we have both been training regularly and are living a healthier lifestyle. Bikini Body Workouts was definitely worth the money we paid for it. You don’t have to go broke to get in shape. You just need solid information and some basic equipment.
I’m actually thinking about building my own home gym now so we can train here at the house. I have been checking out Craigslist for good deals on used equipment. I’m pretty amazed at some of the deals I’ve seen, and I have plenty of room in my garage for the basic stuff I would need.
